Flat Screen TV Help

I'm looking to jump into the new millennium & purchase 2 flat screen TV's. Only I don't know a damn thing about them, except to purchase either a Panasonic or Samsung. All you folk seem to know a heck of a lot about electronics so I'm coming to you for help.

What's better, LCD, LED or plasma? I've been reading good/bad/indifferent about all 3 and with Black Friday sales next week I want to go in there & know exactly what I want and what I'm getting.
