Look who Brooklyn Vegan's Quotin' these days...
wait, I forgot. are we supposed to be for or against hipsters?
the labels New Yorkers tend to place on each other is one thing, but to most family members and friends who don't live in NYC or a cultural area of a major metropolitan area, if you're playing music in NYC, gigging, touring, playing festivals, releasing records...you might as well be a member of the Arcade Fire. I'm being hyperbolic, but you know what I mean? All of us are "hip" to way more cool bands, albums, places to play and underground events than folks who don't travel within or tap into the same channels that we do. Within these walls, most hipster name calling is all black pots and kettles.
Cool matt! Way to Go OJ Site!!!
I like Kerouac's hipsters, man. They were really about something, y'know. Like, really about something man.
Yeah, the idea that somebody is commenting on the music news in a website called Brooklyn Vegan is calling somebody else a hipster kind of shows how meaningless the term has become.
