Rally in NYC today, for Wisconsin! At Fox, 5 PM
I know a lot of people have shows to play/attend tonight (including me) but I might head up to 47th st for at least a little bit of this rally (dress warm tho!) - people who are outraged at the "bail out the rich/screw everybody else" approach to government are fighting back in Wisconsin, I'm glad that New Yorkers will have a chance to join our voices and numbers to that movement. And what better place to protest than at the Fox News building on 47th St and 6th Avenue?
Here's the info about today (Tuesday), that I just got from MoveOn.org -
Jeff
Have you seen what's happening in Wisconsin?
Teachers, nurses, students and firefighters have occupied the state capitol building for the past week. On Saturday, 70,000 Wisconsinites took to the streets of Madison to protest their tea party governor's radical attack on public workers.
Wisconsin has become the national rallying point in the fight that will decide whether our economy works for all Americans, or just the super-rich. Republicans are using budget deficits as an excuse to attack workers, cut funding for crucial public services, and threaten successful programs like Social Security.
With the groundswell in Madison, we have our best opportunity yet to stand up to the radical Republicans who think we can cut our way to prosperity. Dozens of progressive organizations are organizing solidarity rallies this week in cities across the country, including one today in New York.
Can you come out today to make clear that we'll fight back as a national movement, not just state by state? The rally is at the Fox News Building, at 1211 6th Ave, in New York. It starts at 5:00 PM today.

11 other states are considering similar bills. And in nearly every state, politicians are using budget shortfalls—caused by a Wall Street-driven recession—as a justification for cutting necessary public services.
So let's get out there today and show our solidarity. Can you join us at 5:00 PM in New York?
Thanks for all you do.

Sorry! The email we just sent said "Wednesday, Feb. 22." The event is definitely taking place today, Tuesday, Feb. 22 and we will follow up soon with more events.
Dear Jean,
When workers in Wisconsin were faced with an unprecedented attack, they responded with an unprecedented show of solidarity. Now, we need your help to extend that energy everywhere.
Please join our "We Are One" solidarity action near you -- I know this is short notice. If you can't make today's rally, there will be more later this week, but come today if you can to keep the mometum going!

In Wisconsin, workers who are under attack—and the communities that know and respect them—created such an outcry that all 14 Democratic members of the Wisconsin state Senate left the Senate chambers in protest, indefinitely delaying a vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s anti-worker bill.
This is the kind of strength it takes to win victories for workers. We need to make our voices heard whenever and wherever attacks occur, in Wisconsin and in our own states.
All over the country, Americans are standing up to politicians who are launching political attacks on firefighters, teachers, nurses, snowplow drivers, EMTs and other hardworking people who keep our communities safe. Our politicians should be creating jobs—not attacking nurses, teachers and firefighters.
When we stand in solidarity with each other, we cannot be silenced. Please join our rally.
In Solidarity,

P.S. After giving tax cuts to businesses to create an artificial financial crisis in his state, Wisconsin’s Gov. Walker tried to ram through a sham “budget repair” bill that actually is a huge assault on Wisconsin’s workers. It would undermine good, middle-class jobs and rob some 200,000 workers of their democratic right to collectively bargain for a better life. Wisconsin's public-sector union members are under direct attack today—but tomorrow it will be all of us, if we don't make our voices heard. Please join our rally and stand up for good, middle-class jobs across America.
Yes, its me. You may now genuflect.
