"The Ottendorfer Branch of the New York Public Library opened in 1884 as New York City's first free public library."
I stopped by this branch today to pick up a book and the door was locked.
Thursday Hours: Noon-7pm
I sure wish they'd funnel more of my tax money in the library's direction.
They should not need to have to ask for contributions and we should not have to contribute outside of paying taxes.
Do you know how inexpensive it is to keep the libraries open and staffed compared to conducting a war? (Me neither, but my guess is it's quite a bit cheaper----and less head injuries.)
