though admittedly I got there well after start time since I passed thru Tompkins Sq on the way.
Supercute band was at the rally too.
Now I'm gonna go back to Tompkins Sq and see how the Howl fest is developing...

The coop has a 4050N. They basically run forever.
You can find them on craigslist & ebay for anywhere from "get this doorstop out of here" to $300 refurbished and shined up.
It takes a little care in figuring who to buy from, despite the fact that they're indestructible, they can be abused, kept in dusty environments, etc. But it will then last you for the next 10 years.
I'm only familiar with the 4000 series, but the later ones might be ok too, 5000/6000/7000/8000, etc.
Though as with many things, they aren't made the same. The engine was actually produced by Canon, for what it's worth.
Tip of the day for craiglist searches like this.. you can type "laserjet (4000 | 4000n | 4050 | 4050n)"
and that will match "laserjet" with any of those numbers, the | symbol means OR.
