Thesis projects/dissertations on "Antifolk"/DIY folk music
hey all,
i'll be doing some academic research on the NYC Antifolk/OJ community and the more general drive towards DIY/DIT folk music communities in the US. I'll be in NYC for two weeks in December to conduct some interviews - I hope you'll be around! Now here's my question: I remember that from time to time several scholars have asked on the old OJ board for information/contacts to write their own dissertations on similar subjects. Do you still know any of these people? Would it be possible to get in touch with them? Or, more generally, do you know any good academic/ethnomusicological articles on the DIY folk music/Antifolk? Thanks a lot!
There was a woman from Norway (Uni of Oslo?) who did a BA or an MA thesis on anti-folk, I think she came to NYC around 2006-8 to conduct interviews. Also, there was someone doing a BA at Oxford Brookes (communication/media studies?). Good luck!
There was a Swiss girl Adeline Mollard who did a book project I think.. I have "Swiss graphic designer w/ antifolk project" in my contact notes.
I have an old email for her, looks like she has a new site:

And here's the book! Looks neat:

Not so much academic/ethnomusicological, but p'raps interesting nonetheless.
I'm guessing you might have talked to Soléna Toussaint already?
"Here to do great things."
