Anyone around here remember Mike Rocklin? Old guard Antifolker. I liked him. Good performer. Didn't live in the city. Played harmonica and guitar. He was a part of the 'Hoots in the mid 90's, and probably much earlier, too.

I'm pretty sure he was posting on the old OJ board for a while there, unless it was the DamnFine board before that. He could be a little confrontational or arch, but he had good intentions underneath it all. I also remember that his health was in a scary state, at least for a while. (I forget the specifics.)

Anyone hear from him? I hope he's OK.

He was recording onto wax cylinders for a time, and I'd love to catch up with him on that stuff.

Well, I'm figuring this out a bit LATE. Or my brain get a hole in it? Did we collectively miss this?

Mike Rocklin died on July 15, 2008. It appears he died of complications from cancer. :(

I think his legal name was Michael J. Loughlin.

Aw, sad to hear. I recall many rousing performances by Mike Rocklin at Antihoots about ten years ago. I once did artwork for one of his singles.
Many of his lines still stick with me. Interesting that your info from 2008 came from a jam-band message board, I had no idea he was into that stuff, moe. and others, or that the jam-band community would have known of Mike Rocklin (By the way, i used to go see moe. at Wetlands in their earlier days, early 90s).

His brother was the percussionist for Moe. That's the connection. But his brother also has a duo with him, and Rocklin apparently played gigs as a part of various moe fests.

It also appears he recorded some 400 wax cylinders of various live performances. Where are they now?

Ah, maybe his brother was the one who played percussion with him often at Sidewalk.
Sounds like somebody needs to house/archive those wax cylinders.
