I was going to make a blog post of this, but received my long-awaited reply from Stanley Brinks the same day.
Having asked Stanley before I ever heard of Nocturnal Poisoning I was inspired to put his Q. and A. up immediately.
Seeing as how this is a new release for N.P. though, I decided not to wait to put something about it up.

I only started to listen to Black Metal (not all the time and not a lot of it) less then one year ago and only found out about this dude a month or so ago.
I found out about him by watching the excellent 3 part documentary on youtube titled One Man Metal.
If you are an honest person and make your own music it's hard to imagine you won't thoroughly enjoy this roughly 45 minute doc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He used to go by Malefic as a person, and Xasthur as a group/musical project.
His name is Scott Conner.
From what I can gather he is very highly respected in Black Metal circles.
He is also apparently an honest man that is interested in following his heart and making real art, and so that is what he is continuing to do.

I ordered Xasthur's last cd and the new Nocturnal Poisoning cd recently and have since listened to them both.
They are both very interesting and I like them a lot.

Last night I put on Xasthur's Portal of Sorrow.
Great.
Black metal without cliches.
Atmopspheric.
Tough.

This morning I listened to the new Nocturnal Poisoning cd titled Other Worlds of the Mind.
"Vocals No One"
Right, no vocals.
It's almost entirely acoustic---guitar mainly with some drums and a little electric stuff once in a while.
I get a sense of postivity and human triumph with this cd.
It's refreshingly imperfect technically. He's a great player, it simply lacks the overly polished, overly produced, best-note-from-each-take-digitally-pasted-together boringness of some cds.
I like it a lot.
It's raw, it goes cool places, and it's....shit, it's just real music.
I highly recommend it.

To find out a bit about Scott I recommend viewing One Man Metal.

The Nocturnal Poisoning facebook page (open for public viewing) is where you can read occasional comments by Scott and read about how to order the new cd.
MP3s are not available and stores are not currently selling this.

I dug the Doc. Kind of

I dug the Doc. Kind of depressing though.

I understand the urge and attraction to isolation very much. But I also consider it a bit dangerous. I think being social is an important aspect of being healthy.

I'm not sure if I'll check out this music or not. The CD you spoke of sounds interesting. Really not a fan of the blast beat kind of drumming that usually accompanies Black Metal. But I love the theater and I love the atmosphere. Thanks for posting.

Nocturnal Poisoning is not Black Metal and doesn't have "blast beat" drumming.
I'd make you a copy, but I am really against making copies of this instead of buying more or having the person interested buy one.

By the way Matt, even the Xasthur cd I got is more atmospheric than what you may expect--though there was probably some "blast beat" drumming on that one.
I, myself dig "blast beat" drumming sometimes.
