At home he's a Tourist

So I got to BTP early which is a mistake for me because I get incredibly stressed out on the day of the show. I forgot to bring CD's so some of our fans will be disappointed and we'll make less money, oh well. So i go to the roof to look at Manhattan for awhile and then I go downstairs. I put my guitar backstage and I wish there was more room back there and a television. Then I could sit there quietly and get less stressed out. So Matt comes and I borrow his tuner and tune my guitar. Dina shows up a little later. I had already gone over the set list with Matt so then we all went over it together. I think we were all nervous and I was stressed out. I hate before the gig but during and after is fun so I guess it's worth it, and i love to write songs so it only makes sense to perform them. So I was too stressed out to remember who opened the show because I was hanging out in the hallway with Ben and Jon. When we play a show I'm a really bad fan because I'm too stressed to enjoy myself but I feel like I'm a really good fan when I don't play so I don't really worry about it. So the first set ends and I go inside to check in with Dina and Matt. Adam is there he told me about a movie he made called The Wrong Ferrari, from the title I thought it might be an L.A. stoner comedy. He told me it was a cinema verite experimental film. So that's always a good idea. Dina told me that Dashan is in the film so that makes sense because often times Dashan is Cinema Verite experimental. So Crazy and the Brains were playing next. They're a great band and I wanted to stay but I was hungry and stressed so I thought I better take a walk and get a snack or I'll pick a fight with someone and jeopardize the show. I mean it was a fun Saturday night and I didn't want my stress to ruin it for anyone. So I go downstairs and get some chips and a soda and it only cost $2.00, so we're going to move to Bushwick soon. So I'm on the sidewalk snacking and I can hear Crazy and the Brains all the way down the block and across the street. So I walk back and toward BTP listening and I start thinking some of the songs sound like Jeff's. But then I'm like Crazy and the Brains is so punk it sounds like crass. So my witty rock critic mind decided Crazy and the Brains sound like Crass covering Jeff Lewis songs. I was so impressed with my wit I made a mental note to remember it for my blog. Anyway, that's only half true, Crazy and the Brains have their own really rocking sound and they were great that night and really brought down the house, and you know how good they were because I could hear all this this from the sidewalk outside BTP. So I go upstairs after the show, wait awhile and then hop up on stage and set up with Dina and Matt. So Brian wanted to wait awhile before the next set and I really should have went out and got another soda but instead I started to jam along with the between set music, so then we sound check with Brian and everything sound great, so we were going to wait 10 more minutes to start and at that point I really should went out and got a soda...... Prewar at BTP TBC....
